HAGAKI

← Back to the Portfolio

Serving up a speedy selection of signature maki rolls, as well as classics like tonkatsu, tempura and udon, Hagaki specialises in Californian-inspired Japanese cuisine and has a lively sushi bar. Hagaki is a native Japanese word – composed of ‘ha’ meaning ‘leaf, page’ and ‘gaki’ from the verb kaku ‘to write’. The meaning is ‘postcard’.

Echoing the interior design – the wooden walls are covered in Japanese postal marks – Yang Rutherford created a flexible and fun identity system that’s full of energy. We also designed wooden menus which feature the restaurant’s logo laser etched onto the covers.
